New Service in Guildford Helps Families Save on Energy Bills and Improve English Skills

Energy Manage (Community) CIC have launched a new community support service designed to help Arabic speaking families manage rising energy costs while improving their English language skills in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The new drop-in service combines free energy advice with informal English conversation opportunities, helping families gain confidence, access support, and connect with their local community.

Many families face challenges understanding energy bills, finding available financial support, or communicating with service providers due to language barriers. This new initiative aims to address these challenges by providing practical guidance and opportunities for friendly conversation tailored to the needs of Arabic speaking residents.

Participants will be able to receive:

  • Free, confidential energy advice
  • Help understanding energy bills and energy usage
  • Information about grants, discounts, and support schemes
  • Tips to reduce household energy costs
  • Opportunities to practice their English in a relaxed and welcoming setting
  • Support from experienced advisors and community volunteers

David Carter from Energy Manage said:

“We understand that many families are concerned about rising energy costs and may find it difficult to access information and support because of language barriers. This new service provides practical help with energy bills while also creating opportunities for people to improve their English and build confidence within their community.”

The service is open to Arabic speaking individuals and families who would like support with energy related issues or who wish to improve their conversational English skills.

The sessions will take place at The Hive, Park Barn Drive in Guildford on the last Friday of the month between 2pm – 4pm

Attendance is free of charge.
